There are many times where the only choice for the patient is removable partial dentures. However, there is good news if you are not a candidate for non-removable bridges or implants. There are tooth colored clasp retentive arms rather than the unsightly metal arms associated with traditional partials. Another form is the clasp-free partial denture in which the retention mechanism is totally hidden visually when the patient smiles.

Still, another added benefit is that these types are a lot less expensive than implants or non-removable bridges. The clasp-free partial is very comfortable for the patient because the partial is retentive and stable when chewing. Also, there is less bulk associated with this type of partial denture. Teeth used in these types of partials look extremely natural due to a process of quadruple layering of different colors, which exhibit an aesthetic “pearl” appearance for an enhanced smile. The teeth are fabricated from a hardened cross-linked material that increases the light reflection for a more natural appearance. Due to this new process, these teeth are highly stain resistant and denture adhesives are never needed. The resulting high-density polymerization makes the denture teeth resistant to abrasion and odors.

There is also the total metal-free partial denture called Valplast™, which is a nylon-based material that is remarkably aesthetic.
